Alpha 1 gen 2 mounting gasket

Ok, replaced bellows, hoses, gimbal, impeller, shift cable.... installed outdrive and got everything hooked up and noticed the edge of the gasket that is next to the water oring squished out the side. I had the o ring glued in with adhesive and installed the gasket dry. What did I do wrong ? Thanks
 
I torqued them to 50# in a cross pattern. The drive and the gimbal are freshly painted, maybe I'll knock the sheen off the mounting surfaces and try again. Also the large sealing ring does get glued up against the lock ring for the drive bellows, correct ? Thanks !
