15 HP- Adustment for Recoil Lockout.

15HP J15RSSM - Manual Recoil Start.

Recently overhauled the carburetor, no issues, motor operates well at idle and maximum RPM.

My issue is removing and replacing the carburetor I removed the overhead manual recoil starter.

There is a link from the throttle/gearshift to the recoil starter lockout mechanism to prevent the recoil operating when the motor is in gear.

However, on installation of the carburetor and the recoil starter I can not adjust this link correctly, when the gearbox is in neutral sometimes the recoil operates correctly, but on the odd time the lockout will engage.

Is there any information on how to correctly adjust this link rod please.

If you can find a factory service manual, the info you want should be in there.

Did you properly adjust engine sync once you installed the carb? There is a mark on the throttle cam the carb should just begin to open as the matk passes center of the roller.

Manuals by SELOC are nearly useless, photos are terrible and the narrative runs on and on.. .not much help.

When removing the 3 bolts on top, will the assembly come off as a unit - held together by other hardware ? or must you
physical hold the assembly together ?

It may require bending the rod to suit so that it can be pulled in neutral every time.
