What gear train have I got

Ok, this is going to sound a bit weird but the previous owner of my boat has taken a Force 115HP powerhead and grafted on with a specially made adapter plate a mercury bottom end, unfortunately on inspection reverse gear is damaged. I have no idea on the origin or model of the gear unit apart from it is a mercury.

The gear part number reads 43-44100-1, can anyone help with potentially what bottom end this is and even better a source for a replacement gear

No this was an early force and "quite a bit of engineering" has gone into making a plate the fits the force leg to a mercury lower, I know the person who did the alloy welding to make this work. Its a bit of a "project" but my main issue now is trying to get a replacement reverse gear, obvioulsy it would help if I knew which model the lower unit came from. Is there any markings I might find??
 
Someone has grafted on a Mercruiser lower as 43-44100 is a Mercruiser gear casting. Did they make a driveshaft adapter???
