I have a 85 hp Mercury O/B about 1993. My control box will not work for fast idle, mechanic told me the little pin that keeps the motor out of gear and allows the motor to idle up is worn out. I can't remember the make of the control box but it has a button that you have to push in and then you move the lever forward to increase the rpms. My question is can you use any older style mercury control box?
