2001 75hp mercury oil tank

Hi. Well i have a constant buzzer, as soon as key turns on it doesnt stop. I traced it to the oil tank float, by doin some reading here, by unpluggin 2 blue wires and buzzer stopped. My question is do i have to replace just the tank, and new float is in there? Or? Can i use the old wires and sending unit? Any help would be great. Thank you!
 
The way I understand it, is you cannot replace just the float assy. You buy the new tank and you get the new float with it. Unfortunate, because they're not cheap.
