Hello,

is it wise to install a fuel water separator?
All my motors are 2 stroke Evinrude ranging from 61' -76' 4-10hp.
i used only ethanol free fuel and 50:1 mix.
If so, What brand or type should I be looking at for these motors!
thanks in advance.

Racor makes a good filter. Good idea to have one. Don't know what you'll get in your fuel these days.

The reason for asking is because about a month ago, the motor was running fine until I stopped and fish for a bit. Then I couldn't get to start again no matter what I tried(checked spark plugs, fuel line, pump, choke etc...) after a bout an hour of tinkering(in the middle of the lake) I drained the fuel off the carb and pumped/primed the fuel again, it started. The motor is winterized now, but it got me thinking. Could it water be accumulated bu condensation when I stored it in my shed with hot days and cool nights?
i did some googling and realized the separator is a good idea. I know the recor are good. How are the Sierra, moeller quality wise?
thanks!

Yes, the 61's have the glass bowl...I guess that'll help somewhat.
I probably don't need one now as long as I stabilize the fuel and fill up the tank.
thanks for the response!
cheers.

I thought for storage, running the engine until it uses all the fuel is gone will be the safest way to prevent varnished carbs.?

I do this to my lawn mover after each biemonthly mows.
