Question on cleaning the carb on my 6HP Tohatsu

I bought a carb rebuild kit for my 6 HP outboard. I notice the choke on this carb is made out of some type of plastic. Is it OK to soak the carb in carb cleaner?
 
Yes. Remove any rubber bits, and pull jets and emulsion tube nozzle, then submerge all for at least 4 hours. Afterwards, blow out all passages liberally with generic spray carb cleaner.
