I have had conflicting advice on the problem outboard mechanic said seals under the pump spare parts guy said seals in lower box I pulled pump out checked the seals to find the spring inside one seal broken I can fix top half but not bottom any advice helpful thanks mercury 1990 75hp 3 cyclinder Michael
 
Most of us pressure test gear boxes.----That finds the leaking seals.---Then you do not need to ask / trust anyone for advice !-----On a 27 year old motor it is best / cheapest to install a complete seal kit.----Some would argue about that.
