johnson 150 still missing

2001 johnson carb motor 150, has a miss to it at all rpms, carbs rebuilt and new plugs per Johnson specs, is there a way to check the coils or power pack on these instead of just guessing this is the problem and spending 400.00 to replace all?

Run with a timing light on # 1 and see what happens to spark when motor falters.----Test the other 5 too.

Look for black spots in the timing light. That would be the miss.

When was the last time your OIS sensor was replaced.

Remove all spark plugs.....

Check compression. What are the psi compression readings of all cylinders?

Check spark. Spark should jump a 7/16" air gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP! Does it?
