Boat wood trim refinishing

I have a boat with wood trim inside. It has been finished before and begining to look a little rough. What type of stain or finish should I use? It is a pleasure boat that is kept on fresh water lake.

Marine grade varnish is the best in my opinion. Four to five coats. Lightly sand between coats. Just follow the directions on the container. Should last a long time and works very well. If it starts looking a bit dull at some later point, just lightly sand again and apply another coat or two.

As a rule, you want to get something that's compatible with the existing finish....marine grade varnish is popular though recoating is usually necessary after a couple years....a good (UV-resisting) cover will improve that a bunch...
