    Default Velvet Drive Transmission Oil

I have a 1969 Chrysler 318 engine with a velvet drive model AS1-71C. The dipstick says to use Type A oil. Can someone recommend what brand and type of oil to use? Also, I'm also trying to determine the oil capacity of the transmission. Thanks.

Default Re: Velvet Drive Transmission Oil

The inline velvet drive gears work just fine with DEXTRON III. The BW service manual calls out Type C-3 oil.....and the Bulletin I have says even Type F is acceptable.....the big concern is not to intermix two unknown oil types.

The capacity is not fixed but will vary with the application and installation. Two quarts should be adequate for a 71 unless the cooler lines have been lengthened...
