blowing 20 amp fuse

3.5L Mercruiser alfa 1. After finding this boat had a 20 amp fuse powering the ignition switch the motor started and ran for approximately 15 minutes and stopped. Found the fuse had blown again so have to find more fuses. Any ideas why this might turn up?
 
And my usual litany... When did this problem start? Is this a "new to you" boat/ engine? What does the manual say the fuse should be? (Often that's a 30A.) Year? ENGINE S/N???????
