Broken Volvo Transom on Houseboat

Hello, I'm looking for advice on my broken boat. We are first time boat owners and are not sure who to turn to... We need a new transom. The one we have is a Volvo Penta (PN: 867800-8445 / Serial: 306124). We were told by the marina that it would be about $10k to fix the boat which seems crazy to me since we paid less than that for the boat a couple of months ago before it was broken. We aren't sure what to do next. I'm open and grateful to any advice I can get. Not sure if this helps but attaching an image my husband sent me of the part. It's for a Gibson Houseboat. Volvo350 engine.

Go to the top left of this page, click on "Forum Home" scroll down to "gas inboards", then click on the Volvo Penta Forum. Post your question there. And as Bondo recommended, post more information about the engine, outdrive and year. Pictures of exactly what is broken would be most helpful.

Used replacement parts are fairly plentiful on eBay.
