115 Nissan Losing Prime

2008 Nissan 115
Runs fine until the primer bulb loses prime
must be constantly pumping bulb
Have changed to new primer bulb and checked fuel lines for leaks. Local mechanic seems to think it is the mechanical fuel pump
 
What actual model? (not year -- year is irrelevant)...
Does the primer bulb collapse?
When did this start? Any other symptoms?
