Does anyone know how to remove the pulley from the generator on a 40 hp 1965 Johnson Evinrude model number RK-27? Does the pulley just pull off once the retaining nut and 'cover' are removed or is it held in place by a screw or pin or similar?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thank you

It pulls straigt up there is a woodruff key. Put a drop of oil down the shaft and heat the pully up with a torch at the shaft and just tap up on the pully with a big screwdriver handle.

Is the generator not working ?-----Bad bearings ?----Some had a fuse in the junction box.-----Know about polarizing a generator like that ?

I think it is working OK. It is the pulley that I need to replace as it has a small crack in it.

Thanks for the information.

I managed to remove the pulley by following your instructions. I used PB Blaster and had to heat it up twice before I could remove it. Thanks again for your help
