Engine Needs Primer Bulb to Run?

Hi Folks,

New here: I have a Yanmar 1GM10 8 Hrp. My engine can run perfect for like 2 hours then it starts to cut out. If I squeeze the primer bulb it starts to run again. The other night I had to do this like 5 different times then it worked perfect after that with no issues. I ran it again tonight for 30 mins with no issues. We just change all filters, cleaned tank and hoses, replaced primer bulb. This was all done by a licenced mechanic.

Any other ideas or things to check?

Thanks, Paul

fuel pump??

what did the mechanic say?

I was thinking of a fuel pump but I wasn't sure of the characteristics of this only happening once in a while? Tonight I had the boat out and it was perfect for 1 hour on the engine.

This all happened after the mechanic did the work? He may have caused this issue?

Don't know what happened in what order hence the question on the mechanic.

You could plumb a vacuum gauge into the suction line on the pump to see if there are restrictions there....usually the filter head will have an extra set of pipe plugs that can be used for this purpose.
