Got a 1992 Rinker Fiesta Vee 260 with a Merc Bravo II, 350ci, 5,7L. went to start her up she started to crank then died. Gauges all powered up, Batts are both 12.6V. When I crank it starter just "whirs" ??? Is my starter locked up? I heard it could also be dirty/corroded grounds.?.?

If the starter is spinning up to speed and the engine does not turn, the starter can be bad or you are missing teeth on your flywheel ring gear.

I would go with the starter being bad.

On 4 stroke engines the starter gear spindle is designed to wear not the flywheel.....the flywheel spins the starter spindle gear back against the starter spindle spring when the engine starts. Ever hear the saying "grind my a pound of that?"
