Swapping 74 Johnson 115 stator for 78 Johnson 115 stator. Different wires. Need help!!

I purchased a stator known to be working from a 1978 Johnson 115hp as well as the rectifier. The wiring on the 1974 stator has 4 wires in a black sleeve: Brown, brown w yellow stripe, yellow, yellow w gray stripe. The stator from 1978 has 4 wires in a red sleeve: Brown w white stripe, brown w black stripe, yellow, yellow w gray stripe. It also 2 wires in a black sleeve on opposite side of the stator: Brown, brown w yellow stripe.
Could anyone point me in the right direction as to which wires to splice together or where to fasten into? The old stator was melting and dripping green goo down motor. Thank you in advance for any input

What amperage stators ?------THe 78 model has 2 powerpacks.

Unsure racerone. It is more like a completely sealed unit whereas the 74 stator has a black round coil? On opposite sides and several small windings wrapped in green tape like material

1974 part number 581046. 1978 part number 581830. Both appear to be from non t/t motors and 6amp
