convert OMC to penta SX

I have a 92 Donzi Sweet 16 that has no engine or drive but the Cobra transom plate is still there. The boat was equipped with a OMC Cobra 5.0 (302 Ford) I also have a 1994 Lawson 19' with Volvo Penta 5.0 and SX drive.

I will remove engine/drive and whatever from the Lawson and put it in the Donzi then scrap the Lawson.

Glancing at the transom units it seems the OMC and Penta are the same other then the top cover emblem. The trim cylinders also look the same. ARE THEY?? are the castings the same? if they are I would like to just leave the OMC in the Donzi since it is beautifully custom painted and flawless, the Donzi is truly a custom beauty that won many shows. I would then paint the SX drive to match. I would install the Penta top cover and store the plate.

never mind.. i found differences.

Buy a Mercruiser transom assembly.

Or go to SEI and get their OMC to Merc Alpha Gen2 conversion kit.

Chris, that would be trading one Dog Clutch drive for another Dog Clutch drive!
With the SX, he gets away from the dog clutch and the ESA.

Bravo 1 is what he should install. I will take and alpha Gen 2 over an OMC any day.

I did install the entire penta assembly.. thanks for the input
