1994 force 40 won't idle

Hi guys, new to your forum, I recently bought a boat with this Force 40 on it, previous owner said it hadn't been run in 3 years.
I cleaned the carb and installed new needle. The motor will run fine on high idle but when I try to a it of high idle it dies. Could this be a fuel pump problem?

Thanks

The air screw on the left side top might need to be reset.
GENTLY screw it in, remembering how many turns?? Post that #
Then turn it out 1 and 1/2 turns.
That's the base setting for the air/fuel mix for idle ONLY!!
That screw is not an idle screw.
That's set on the tower shaft when in the water and in gear.

To set the air/fuel screw: in the water motor warm, turn the air screw in 1/8th of a turn.
Let it set for 10 seconds.
Then repeat until the motor bucks, kicks, stalls??
Then back out 1/2 turn.

Thanks Jerry I'll try the air/fuel screw again later today, I tried adjusting it yesterday on muffs, but I'll try it in barrel. Right now it is 1 1/8 turn out.
Johnny, I'm not sure what else to look at it in the idle circuit I have use carb cleaner and compressed air everything seems to be clean

Thank you gentlemen, I pulled the carb back off and removed the welch plug since that was the only thing I hadn't done, I ran my torch tip cleaner thru all passages and re-cleaned with carb cleaner. After I put it back on it seems to run fine. I set the idle as Jerry said and it looks like life is good again.

Glad it's running good.

Was working on a 120 and the motor ran like crap.
Got it to where I knew it was the carb, cleaned that thing 4 times.
The last time worked.??
A very tiny piece of something can cause a lot of trouble.
