Alpha One Gen 2 Gimble Housing Anode

I just purchased an anode kit for my Alpha One Gen 2 outdrive. When I went to install the gimbal housing anode I noticed a seal of some sort Mercury Part #12077. Can anyone tell me where it goes? The stearndrive manual was useless.

Thanks in advance for any help.
 
If its what I think it is its rubber about 3/4 inch long. and about the size of a cig in dia.
It goes in the hole where the anode wires usually come thru
 
The black thing in the lower right is my guess Jack

Yup!!

Wasn't sure he was speaking to the gasket or the boot..........Figured I let him point it out for us
 
The other one with the shift problem found the cable not screwed in all the way causing the slide to bind up on the arm.
 
Common problem, I did suggest that in my post.

Do it yourselfers don't know how far to tighten the threaded part and don't think to look at the original one before removing it....
 
Either that guy was stone deaf or 3 sheets to the wind. I don't know how you couldn't hear that and jar a few teeth loose in the process.
