OMC 1975 stringer electric

I'm inspecting the drive from top to bottom and want to flush the lower drive section what would be best to use? I need to replace the two vertical shafts in the upper so that is completely apart.

Ayuh,.... I would think diesel fuel, 'n a brush,...

Cheap, easy, 'n available 'bout anywhere,...
Home heatin' oil, or kerosene works too,...
Great solvents, not very flammable,...

if you need parts i have most of an outdrive. you pay the shipping i'll send the parts. at least the bottom half.

ATF is a good cleaning solvent spendy but it keeps metal parts from rusting as well.
