I have a 1983 115hp evinrude. For its age it really has low hours on it. Last fall my son used the boat and reported it would try to die at higher speeds. The motor had some issues with keeping it running when it was first started. I would have restart the engine several times. The bulb was always hard. I did not drain the fuel tank but always stored the boat with STA-BIL in the fuel.
Over the winter I replaced the fuel pump and now the engine stars easily and idles well. However, if i go full throttle the engine runs fine for 20 to 30 seconds then chokes down and tries to die. I can back off the throttle and it will shortly return to a smooth idle. It seems to have good power and acceleration but only for that short time. Any ideas.
