Lower unit problems

Alright guys most of y'all who help me know I just got an sei gearcase for 97 evinrude 115 E115eleua. I did a test run the other day and she did great! We hit 32 degrees last night and I knew it was coming, so I tilted the motor down 95% of the way , and had the boat and motor covered up, I don't see any gear oil yet, but I noticed that spinning the prop freely with it in neutral I noticed that it's catching at a certain spot... and you can actually hear it catching on something.

That sounds like the prop is scraping on something. I'd suggest removing the prop & see if the noise goes away. Possibly it could be as simple a a bit of sand or debris between prop and gearcase. I suppose you have any & all the thrust washers in place, right?

That's what I thought it sounded like. That was weird, I pulled the prop off and put it back on and it spins freely again!

So its was just some debris caught up in there then?

Yep cause I pulled the prop off, looked, didn't see anything, put it back on and it was fine!
