    Default 86 Evinrude E4BRHCDE ratio?

    Hi,
I have a 1986 Evinrude E4BRHCDE 4 hp outboard that I am using as a back up to my 1968 Johnson 40 hp. What is the correct ratio for the Evinrude? My Clymer manual suggests that It may be 100:1 due to low friction bearings. If that is true, would it damage the motor to run it at 50:1? That is what my 40 hp motor needs, and I don't want to carry multiple tanks with different ratios.
    Thanks,
    Steve

You will damage the motor running it at 100:1 in this case!!-----Stick to 50:1 for all Johnson / Evinrude since 1964
