what does this do?

My boat is missing this part and I was wondering if I should install it but I have no idea what it does. Thanks in advance!

Looks like an outboard manual stop that holds the engine tilted up position.

Here's the one that came off my 90 Hp Chrysler (center picture) when I installed the hydraulic tilt/trim...................

OK, I see now.... My boat also has an aftermarket hydraulic lift and I guess it's not needed. Thanks Dave
