Need help Identifying Model and Year...

Hello,

I would first like to start off by saying that I am new here and this is my first time posting for assistance. I greatly appreciate any help I can get. I bought this motor in spring of 2016 and I currently do not know what year and model this motor is because the serial number has either worn out and fell off or it was removed by somebody. A good friend of mine who does a little work with boat motors suggest that it is probably a late 70's model but he isn't sure as well. If anybody can help me identify this year and model, I am going to need to replace a few things in the very near future and without my model, it makes things difficult for me to order parts. Thanks!

Look for a possible # on a freeze plug, Is boat possibly as old as engine? Serial # on starboard upper portion of hull transom might give a clue

Boat is newer... engine got replaced because VRO went out on the previous motor I replaced it with this one.. I had a ETSL90 or something like that before..90HP.. it was a 1990 I believe... or was it an 1989.. one of thoae..

Usually on a cylinder head, roughly the size of a nickel to a quarter, aluminum in color, round disc with #s on it. Carbs have serial#s also that might shed some light on year of your engine

I've tried looking wherever that I can see.. I don't see where there is any freeze plug.. unless.it's underneath somewhere..

And trying to find a fuel pump that looks like that...... I cant find it for the life of me.. so I ordered one with the part # 438559..

If the pump mounts directly over the pulse port on the intake manifold it uses 2 hoses.--------Older motors used a 3 hose pump.-------

Oh, and one more thing... some of the things that was going bad were replaced with my 1990 motor so not everything is original.. that's why the picture from the back, some stuff like the coils I believe were replaced.

There were also some later 77 models with differences.-----------Your motor shows one powerpack and 78 models show 2 of them.

That's a start and a difference that can probably differ from the two if that is the case. If 78' and 79' both has 2 power packs, then most likely this could be a 77'..

Alright, thanks racerone.. although I cant confirm exactly if it is a 77' or not yet without a serial #, I will definitely try and look for that freeze plug again. As for tonight, time to hit the bed.. gotta get up early for work.. thanks again!
