would there be any benefit fitting an oil cooler to a 5ltr mercruiser v8 1985 vintage, coolant temp is constant 150deg f the air temp under the engine cover is very hot,i would run the cooling hoses to another power steering cooling adaptor in the raw water hose, before the heat exchanger, the eng is fresh water cooling.

You may have blockage in the exhaust risers/manifolds. Use a infrared temp gun and shoot the manifolds and risers and see how hot they are getting. A oil cooler could not hurt anything for sure but if the engine is staying constant around 150 deg then your exhaust manifolds and risers are probably where the heat is coming from. Do you know when the last time the risers were pulled? How old is the raw water impeller?

How old is the power steering oil cooler? That is a preventive maintenance part if you dont know how old it is just replace it it is a common cause of water flow issues.

For the Motor,..??

Nope, probably not,....

If the oil temps don't get good, 'n hot, it can't steam off the condensation that forms in our motors,....

The snot ya see inside the valve covers on those cold wet nasty days, before ya start the motor,....
