Omc2.3 Cobra

I have a1988 2.3 Cobra OMC stern drive , I am swapping with a 1989 2.3 Cobra OMC . I am also considering swapping my old Mallory point type distributor for an electronic Motorcraft from the 1989 2.3 . From the pictures it looks like there may be 5-6 wires involved with replacement but can't tell where they lead to or come from . I am wondering if this would be an easy change or not worth the time since I can still get a conversion for the Mallory distributor.
 
if you do not use your 1989 omc cobra out drive i may be interested in it as the reverse gear in my out drive grinds when engaged and goes no where
