Throttle Linkage Sticking

Hello,

I have a 1997 Johnson 15 hp motor and last weekend I went out but could not get the throttle to adjust from the tiller handle, like the cable was stuck inside the sleeve. When I opened the motor housing and rotated the throttle lever by hand, the cable seemed to slide OK - a little tight but did not appear to bind. Can someone lead me in the right direction? Do I need to replace the cable or is it just out of adjustment? I am pretty new at this, but have been successful working on other parts of the engine - carburetor, fuel pump, water pump impeller replacement, etc.

Thanks!

Have you tried lubing the cable inside of sleeve in the tiller assembly,WD40, CRC5-56,grease, when you twist throttle lube anything that moves

Maybe find something here. If the cable seems to work good disconnected from the throttle lever it may be the trigger is sticking under the flywheel? Pull it apart and clean and grease with a high quality lithium marine grease.

It seems the cable issue was no lubrication int he twist handle.

Now I have an issue with getting the engine to run. Will start a new post.

Thanks again![/FONT]
