Water in gearcase case

Hi All,

I have a 2014 Mercury 150hp EFI 4 Stroke engine and it's due for a 300 hr maintenance.

As I was draining out the gear oil everything seems to be okay, no shaving or pieces of metal, dark oil color, until I took a closer look at the oil sitting in the pan. I notice a slight milky color. See attachment.

I was told it could be two things water pump seal or prop shaft seal.

What does everyone think? Lower unit compression check?

Warranty ??-----------Have the lower unit pressure tested.

It's definitely still under warranty. From my understanding warranty won't cover it because it's a maintenance item? Thanks for your help!

Then what good is a warranty, Bad seals and o-rings not covered?????

Opinions will vary, but that looks normal.--------I think seals will pass the testing.

How loose were the drain and vent screws?

Make sure you install new nylon gaskets on drain plugs,very inexpensive
