Default Trolling motor bends when engaged

Engaging the trolling motor pushing the boat forward causes the trolling motor to bend and hit the boat. I got this motor used so it seems maybe a bracket is missing or broken that normally holds the motor in place. Any tips on how to correct this behavior.

    Thanks,
    Backwards sailing boatman

I tried finding a transom bracket with no luck. This is the closest to your model I could find.

Either way doesn't impact the functionality, I've tried both.

The link didn't work for me. So I need to buy a new bracket?

Something like this will work better for your boat just make sure it fits the tube size. ayou can probably cut your tube down also, use a tubing cutter so you dont cut any wires.

Just put a clamp on the shaft to adjust height you only need the prop about three inches below the water line.

That motor has the 42 inch tube and is the pedal steering and 24 volts 1994-97.
B=bow mount F=foot pedal L=long shaft 4=24volts, not sure what the S stands for

This looks like the oem parts. I'm not sure what is needed since the pictures are missing. Swivel bracket + clamp?

Yea I could not find the complete OMC assembly. You have the foot pedal steering correct? You just need a similar bracket that will clamp on the upper tube. Being a shallow draft boat you can probably just cut both tubes down so it would be practical it would take some work but doable. That motor is designed for a deep draft bow mount. Another possibility you could trade it for a transom mount just put a add on craigslist?

You can buy both tubes for fairly reasonable on ebay.

It looks like the mounting tube may be the same for 36 and 42 inch with different part number for the 48 inch tube.

It 100% normal for the shaft to flex 2-3 inches when power is applied...also check the the swivel bearing as these are bad about balls falling out and making it sloppy.
