Winter Gas Storage

I am faced, annually, with the mutually exclusive conditions of winterizing a FWC engine: run until antifreeze comes out + a few seconds, but not run impeller dry, and run until carb bowl dry ( I fog engine while cranking after shut off with ignition disabled). Am considering drilling and tapping the bowl on my TKS for a drain plug. Am I missing something easier??? Old gas in bowl is NOT a good thing!

If the motor is at operating temperature, the gas in the carb will eventually evaporate.

Agreed; when you're doing the rest of the winterizing ordeal, it's tough trying to run the carb dry.

I never worry about the gas over the winter, Fresh water boats in the northeast.

Many boats i work on have less than 1/4 tank...........No issues!!

I add gas stabilizer to fuel and run motor for 15-20 minutes on the hose.

I never run antifreeze thru an engine.

I manually drain the blocks and manifolds and then add RV antifreeze as a precaution. My preference!!

I also I do not fog I/O engines Unless I am asked to.
