2008 115 optimax problems

I have a 2008 115 Optimax. I bought it new, and it has 600+ hours.
Six years ago, I had to replace the bottom coil (there are three).
I'm getting the same intermittent loss of a cylinder, and then it coming back again, so I think I have another bad coil. I ordered two, and plan to replace the other two original coils.
Is this a common problem with my engine model?

Check your cooling system, Is engine running warmer than normal? High heat plays havoc on electronics, destroying them slowly over time. Try downloading codes!

I took it in to my Merc. mechanic, and he though the same thing, so he replaced the thermostat.
I ran it today, and it ran at 98 degrees at 4800 rpms, and didn't have any issues.
I'm still going to replace the two older coils when the new ones arrive.
What codes are you talking about downloading? Bear in mind, I am a retired carpenter, not a computer whiz. Hahaha
