I have a Volvo penta D2-55 (2003) in a 42ft sailboat It is losing power/rpm. When cruising at 2500 rpm it suddenly goes down to idle. It sometimes shuts down. You can start the engine again and it will work fine. At lower rpm it takes longer for it to happen. we have change both diesel filter and the problem is still there. This past weekend we used the engine one day at cruising speed and had no problems. two days later had the same problem. at idle speed the engine runs ok. under no load and high rpm the problem is there.
Any clues where I should start to look? Thought of an air leak but I think that that woul be more constant.
