72 Penn yan

Hello all, new member here. I just got a 1972 penn yan tunnel drive boat.
I need some help identifying the engine. From what I've read online I'm at the time change 72-74 where things change in manuals I need to buy.
My engine info is
model # lM318-8PWR10-449
serial # E128000
part # 7-16-P
I'm guessing it's a 1972 can't find data plate. Info I have is from original owner that wrote info in ships log.
can anyone tell me what year engine was made so I don't waste money buying wrong manuals. I would like to buy operation, parts & service books for my boat. It's a 225 hp.
