Mercury power tilt only goes down

Trim motor runs up and down, but engine only moves down. Tried manual assist, but cannot push the motor up. Only way to get it up is bypassing the hydraulics. Tried several bypass up / trim down cycles with no improvement. reservoir is clean and full. Seems the fluid on top of the piston is not released when the motor runs upward. Any thoughts? 1989 Mercury 80 HP.

Check manual release valve s closed.Maybe air in the system.

Manual release is closed. There's probably some air but because you can't pump fluid into the up side, it won't flush out.

I have a 60 HP,same problem.I rebuilt the pump with o rings and new pilot valve,still same.The parts schematics seem to differ and dont explain exactly how to reassemble.The Seloc manual isnt any more helpful.Does any know exactly how to reassemble the pump,I am tired of trial and error

If you are doing the bleeding procedure correctly,then I'm guessing there is an internal seal gone

I took it all apart again and discovered the tip of the plastic relief screw is broken of in the manifold

Got that sucker out of there,manifold flushed out,the pump back together, I have wait for new relief screw to get here to run it.I am 99%sure thats it

Did you find instruction/drawing for the pump? I'm apprehensive about disassembly without knowing what I'm in for.

It works great now,the pump itself was fairly easy,it was the springs and spool valves connecting to the cylinder that had me confused

When you say the plastic relief screw, are you referring to the hydraulic bypass screw I use to lift the unit without the lift.
