318 - Rear Main Oil Seals

Good Afternoon

I had an Engine Rebuilder assemble my 318 reverse rotation short block

Oil pumps out of the rear main seal just by cranking the engine over

Two points - A standard rotation Seal was used (based on the recommendation of a Parts supplier)

This engine block has been Align-Bored. I don't believe that the Rear Main Cap or Block were machined

Any thoughts will be appreciated

if its a reverse rotation engine, you have to use the reverse rotation oil seal. Looking at the flywheel, from aft looking forward, if the engine spins clockwise....shes reverse rotation. I'm rebuilding a pair of 318's as we speak actually! Sorry the parts supplier led you in the wrong direction.

it was old....but also unanswered. These Forums are great sources of information, hopefully the next guy to roll through here will find the answer he's looking for.
