LM 318 intake manifolds

Hello all, does any one know the size of round stock to use for the block to intake manifold alignment pins? Are they needed? Thanks, John
 
I would want them in place if I'm using an OEM intake
but there not necessary. Aftermarket companies like
Edelbrock want them removed. They not only help
line up the intake but also hold the gasket in place
however some aftermarket intakes only want RTV used
anyway

Thanks Jack, that's what I have been hearing, I've decided they are not totaling necessary. I appreciate you getting back to me! John
