Hey guys I have a 5 m aluminum boat. It's an old Clark abalone I'm in Australia. The bow eye plate that was welded to the front is starting to wear through. There's not much left for the stap hook to hold onto.
I'm thinking about cutting off the worn bow eye plate and installing a stainless steel eye for hooking the winch strap on to. I would properly support this as with a wooden or plastic plate in the back behind the stainless steel eye.
What do you think? Is this a good move or should I just pay to get a new aluminum eye plate welded back in its place.
Thanks!
