My 2004, 140 HP, Johnson, 4 stroke Engine has run great for 12 years. Always have regular maintenance. Now it is overheating when run in the tilt position at 6000 RPMs. The thermostat and Water Pump have been replaced. Any suggestions as to possible causes?

Yes it just started and no, I rarely run at 6000 RPM's, normally 4000 however, I will open it up for 1/4 - 1/2 mile on occasions just because I've heard that it is good to do.

was just the impeller replaced or the whole pump?...salt or fresh water use?....I understand that you are trimming it to get the 6k rpm but if you don't trim it and run wot does it still occur?
