First post here, but this site has been very helpful gaining knowledge building up to my first boat purchase! I'm currently in the market for a +/- 17' with 90+hp in the neighborhood of $6,000. I've come across a well maintained, stored inside, one owner 1988 18’ Lund Tyree that has a 115hp oil injection Suzuki. There isn’t a lot on here for this specific outboard, from what I can gather these engines are reliable however parts aren’t too common, and they’re bad in salt water applications (corrosion). I will bein all freshwater ranging from inland lakes to Lake Superior. Anyone have input for this ’88 model or similar years? Anything I should specifically look for before buying? Just want to know as much as possible since I would have to drive a couple hundred miles round trip to see/test it in person and make the purchase. Don’t want to waste the drive if there are any common major issues.
