Really Stuck fuel filter

I have OMC stern drive 5.8 Cobra. Problem with running and dying lead to fuel changes and carb rebuild but cannot remove the fuel filter. Various special wrenches for oil canisters used only bent the filter can but still is tightly stuck. Need solutions if anyone knows any beyond the usual wrenches, leverage turning.
 
The base is the strongest point on canister,the area closest to the bracket,try wrench there. There are rubber and canvas strap wrenches that might be more suitable for your application.PB blaster is a good solvent that might loosen it up.
 
E-10 has likely attracted H2O, and you are now experiencing some rust and corrosion.

I would simply replace the entire works and be done with it.
The entire filter base w/ a new spin-on cartridge will not break the bank.
 
Ricardo Marine good call. Zaczu when installing new one a film of oil on gasket would be beneficial for future changes. Hand tight will suffice.
