Please see pictures. This is how I found the controls of a friends boat? Notice that throttle cable barrel was inserted into position "1". As can be seen the square section of the red cable end does not fit inside the control retaining bracket. It appears as though this cracked the bracket the last time it was tightened. Upon disassembly I noticed that the barrel on the end of the cable fits snugly into position 1 but is very sloppy in position 2? Which position should it be in? Should the barrel be snug in the control the same as the shift cable's barrel? Do the cable ends (plastic piece that includes barrel) come in different sizes and could the one fitted be wrong for this set up?
