Motor identification help

Can anyone help me identify this motor/outdrive. I know the motor is a Ford V8. I also know that the boat is a 1989 Caravelle but that's it. Any help would be appreciated.

232BMRMEF is the ID- that's what you use to order parts and maintenance items.

but 232BMRMEF is (unfortunately) a Ford based 2.3L 4 cylinder, not a V8. Is that tag on the engine? Has the engine been swapped to a V8?
