Key Off, Force Keeps Running ??

I put a Force on my pontoon boat replacing a Suzuki. I did not change out the controls ( didn't have them). I have it wired, and it runs good, however when I turn the key off the force keeps running. Can anyone please tell me what stops a force motor when the key is turned off? Any and all comments greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need the Force key switch.

Depending on the year of Force???
The choke can kill the motor if held in.
The later models don't have a choke but an enricher and it won't kill the engine.

But excessive choking will make the motor smoke bad and possibly foul the plugs.

E-bay has all kinds of controls.
The older Forces 94 and before use different equipment.
After 94 they used Mercury shifter and harnesses.

125 hp, but I don't know the year. Somewhere between an 84-99 im sure. Is there a way to tell the year by the model number? I am sure it would really help to know the year. Bear in mind you are dealing with a OLD (79 years) boat motor cowboy dummy here.....If it had a mane & tail this old cowboy could fix it, but NOT when it comes to wiring :)

Maybe: the wiring on the key switch is loose?
Maybe: the wires on switch shifted and is making contact between 2 wires?
Maybe: you need a new switch?

Check ALL connections on the motor and under the dash.
