I recently got a 1986 Johnson VRO 110 V4 that was sitting for a while ... It started up no problem ... I Changed lower gear oil and changed water the impeller ..what else should I service..are these reliable? And did they come with a horn/alarm.. I don't have any chirp on startup ..

thanks,

Nick

Very good motor. Only certain control boxes from OMC had the horn that chirps at start-up. If the VRO is connected and you want to keep make sure it is updated if not I would disconnect it. If you want to run it mix the fuel at 50-1 in the tank and mark the vro tank and make sure the oil level drops. I would go through the carbs also.

Awesome thanks!
How do you bypass the VRO is the fuel pump also part of the VRO?

do I just unattache the electrical wire and cut and plug the oil hose?
