Motorized Engine Cover not working ...

I'm getting my boat ready to launch and the motorized engine cover does not engage, I don't hear any motor noise or clicking ... suggestions on how to tell if it still functions or the motor is shot ?? ..
 
Ok found I had 12v to it so took it apart and motor was seized .. manually rotated it a few times and put some power to it and away it went .
