Add Kill Switch With Lanyard to older BF100 (10hp Honda)?

That switch should work, as long as you have clearance and you connect your leads up to the correct two terminals.

The one unknown is.....to stop the engine...can you push the button? The description at Sea Dog does not say. Of course, you could just pull the safety landyard off. http://www.sea-dog.com/groups/2243-kill-switch-universal

It might be worthwhile calling Sea Dog tech support and ask them if the engine will stop if you push the button with the landyard installed.

Another option is the current Honda switch. You can push the button to stop this one...although more expensive. These pictures show the dimensions. http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/honda/H-35180-ZW9-023.html

Good luck in your redesign. It makes a lot of sense...safety wise.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for the reply! I will most likely go with the other option for for the push button switch, thank you for the suggestion. I will find a way to mount it.

Since my kids will be driving the boat this summer I want a tether. I bought the motor at the end of last season and noticed it steers sharper in one direction, over-steers actually so that is what made me think tether.

I ordered the Honda service manual last week from Amazon, I built my stand to work on and test the motor yesterday. I am going to clean the carb first to see if that fixes my idle problem.

Thanks again.

John
