Hi All.
I have a 2 bearing pds shaft with bearing # 6007 front and # 6206 rear bearing and installed rear seal size 35x62x7mm- seal lip facing out . We ran the engine about 1/2 hr with no u-joint then ran boat with ujoint and lower unit connected for about 1hour on lake for engine break in. Came back remove upper gear box and ujoint bellow and about 3-4 oz. of grease had come out. I think I did not seat the seal in evenly so we took 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe and hammer and reseated the seal as best we could. we then ran the engine from 600 rpm to 900 rpm with no grease leakage. Do you think I need to put a new seal in. difficult to get other seal out? Your thoughts please.
Thanks,

This seal is there to retain grease near the 6206 bearing, but at the same time it must allow any over-pressure or over-volume two is scape.

It is not intended to be a water seal.
